On 3–4 June, the field narrows to just six semi-finalists. In what is widely considered the competition’s most difficult test, these young virtuosos must demonstrate their leadership and ensemble skills by performing dramatic piano quintets alongside NZTrio.

Competitors will perform with Amalia Hall (violin), Matthias Balzat (cello), and Jian Liu (guest piano), as well as Auckland Philharmonia’s violist Robert Ashworth.
